Pittosporum - Bonsai Tree Type (Outdoors) Bonsai Care

Fast growing evergreen plant with attractive foliage which comes in several different varieties. Considered best suited for hedging or topiary but can be developed into an attractive bonsai. Pittosporum bonsai are rare.

STYLE : Best suited to informal upright.

WARNING : Vulnerable to powdery mildew and leaf spot. See section on these deseases for treatment.

Care Info

REPOT : Annually in a deepish pot when young then at increasing interval based on root growth.

SOIL : Grows in most soil types as long as they are free draining. 40:60 grit:organic is ideal.

PRUNE : Prune in later winter/early spring.

PINCH: Trim new shoots to shape during growing season.

WATER : Water well in growing season, sparingly in winter.

FEED : Apply balanced feed in spring, heavy nitrogen feed in summer and nitrogen free feed in autumn to encourage root development.
