Hemlock - Western/Eastern (Tsuga heterophylla/canadensi Bonsai Tree Type (Outdoors) HEMLOCK - WESTERN/EASTERN (TSUGA HETEROPHYLLA/CANADENSI -

EVERGREEN CONIFER. Western/Eastern varieties distinguished by pyramid versus "bushy" SHAPE with drooping branches being more evident on the Western VARIETY. Both bear soft, short, NEEDLE-like LEAVES which darken with age.

STYLE : Suitable for most styles, except broom, and from small to extra large.

Care Info

HEMLOCK - WESTERN/EASTERN (TSUGA HETEROPHYLLA/CANADENSI -

REPOT : Every 2-3 years up to age of 10, then every 3-4 years, in mid to late spring.

SOIL : Free draining soil : 30:70 GRIT:organic.

PRUNE : SumMEr PRUNING. PINCH : Pinch back new SHOOTS before they harden, leaving only a few NEEDLEs.

WATER : Water well in growing season, sparingly in winter. Benefits from foliar spraying with water.

FEED : Two weekly BALANCED FEED during growing season, low nitrogen in autumn.
