Hi all Ayrshire Group members. I do hope that the very recent spell of very cold / freezing weather has not caught you unawares resulting in any losses or setbacks. Our next scheduled meeting is this Sunday 12th March 2023 at Alloway Village Hall - 1.30pm as usual. Please bring things for the display tables and note that our calendar theme for this month is Club Tree Critique. It should not be daunting but actually of benefit to us all and be constructive and enlightening. If you have a particular tree that you would like to be subject to critique then please bring it along. Hopefully Mother Nature will be kind to us and not create weather difficulties for any of you who travel some distance to attend our meetings. There will be feedback and updates as to National Event Planning situation.

Hi all ayrshire Group Members. our next scheduled meeting wiill be sunday 9th April 2023 at Alloway Village Hall, 1,30pm as usual. This date corresponds to Easter Sunday so one would hope that weather and conditions are greatly improved. The theme for the day is Flowering so bring along something for the display tables. There will be some admin matters and final details regarding the Kaz workshop and demo destined for 22nd and 23rd April. As previously stated this meeting will also include a mock up of our club stand for national exhibition in May. Please bring along trees you intend being considered for showing. This will allow available space etc on display area to be considered and to a large extent decided before the event. Some preparation will also be required to our stored table coverings and back cloths prior to national event. An EGM of SBA will be held early May with regard to the constitutional matters previously discussed over many months past. This topic will be subject to further info and discussion.

Caz Scott is leading a workshop (FULL) and there is a drop in repotting workshop running alongside. Bring your lunch if you come for the day, £5 for all day, tea and other beverages provided.

Bring a tree to work on ( or two) and have some bonsai chat, tea and coffee provided

Some repotting might be ok as long as the tree isn't in full leaf

This is a busy season with a number of possible activities: bring trees for re-potting if their roots are congested, or do some wiring or directional pruning of deciduous trees, or prune and wire a conifer.   

If you are going to bring a tree to the National Exhibition, but can’t make the April meeting, please bring it along.

Topic will be repotting.  This will be an extended session to allow enough time for those with a few trees to repot.

There will be a limited amount of potting media available, so if you have several trees to repot you may want to bring a stock for your own use.
