Meetings - Second Sunday of every month 1.30pm in Alloway Village Hall. Face to face meetings now resumed.

This months Programme - September 2021 for Ayrshire Bonsai

Hi All Ayrshire Group members. I hope you are still well in current circumstances. We are certainly not back to normality as we knew but each passing month seems to remove some of the restrictions we had been facing. I hope this message reaches you all now that I can use the older and previously more trusted contact method. Our next scheduled meeting will be next Sunday 12th September 2021 - 1.30pm at Alloway Village Hall. Protective restrictions have not yet been fully removed by hall committee so at present I cannot tell you that the kitchen facilities will be available again as they used to be. A committee is likely this week and if changes are agreed then I will message you further. Otherwise please be prepared to bring your own refreshments to see you through the afternoon and also suitable face masks. Also remember that Corrin Tomlinson (subject to Jeffs previous announcements) will be calling in on meeting and the presence of such a professional person of the British Bonsai world should be positive and beneficial for us all. Those of you who ordered things via Jeff from Corrin please come prepared to pay for and take away those items. All those attending should come prepared to part with their £3 meeting dues. No specific theme is allocated to meeting but please recall Peters previous contact re bringing any Joe Baillie trees that we have,  to show other members of their continued existance and development. It will be the third anniversary of Joes passing and a very fitting tribute by our club. Our display table on the day should not only be for Joes trees so please give some of your wee treasures an outing and bring something for the display table. It should be obvious to all that changes will soon be happening in management of both Scottish Bonsai Association and the Ayrshire Group. We must do our best to secure our bonsai future and with that in mind our thoughts should be turning seriously and sensibly to our October meeting when we will again address the issues of group management and office bearers. What can you offer and do for the group? Mull it over please. Looking forward to seeing you all. Tony

UPDATE 7th September 2021. Hi Again. It has been agreed by Hall Committee that social distancing requirements will be abolished but face masks and hand sanitizing should continue. The kitchen will be back in use bUT that will entail that any member using cups and utensils will properly wash and fully clean the items and NOT just quickly rinse them. They will then be returned to storage cupboards. Corrin Tomlinson will be bringing additional materials for perusal and sale BUT please allow those who have pre ordered material to collect and secure their items before buying any items from remaining stock.

Next months Programme October 2021 -

Next meeting Tuesday October 12th

We might have more trees requiring remedial pruning, or some needing a second session of work. This may be a good time to get some late autumn colour displayed, or for bare deciduous trees to be accessible for pruning to get the best branch structure.

For some deciduous species it is the perfect time to wire whilst there is still some flexibility of their branches before they become hard and brittle over the winter months. All welcome.
